Swimmer Rankings is a free read-only directory of competitive swim performance data. This page explains what we collect, what we do not, and how to reach us with concerns.
Where the swim data comes from
Times, ranks, meets, and club affiliations come from the USA Swimming public records system. Those records are published by USA Swimming for the express purpose of public ranking lookup. We mirror them in our database so we can compute additional views (rank-by-age-group, lifetime PBs, recruiting projections) on top.
If you are a swimmer or parent and would like a specific swimmer record corrected, removed, or hidden from our site, email support@swimmerrankings.com with the swimmer name, member ID (if known), and what you would like changed. We honor the same removal cadence as USA Swimming.
What we deliberately do not store
- Exact date of birth. We store birth year only. Age-at-meet is computed from birth year and meet start date.
- Addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses of swimmers.
- Health, training, or coaching information beyond what is in the public USA Swimming results record.
- Direct messages or any swimmer-to-swimmer or coach-to-swimmer contact channel.
What we collect from visitors
We use PostHog for product analytics — page views, click events, and rough country/region (derived from your IP, never stored as an exact address). PostHog is configured with privacy-first defaults: no session replay, no fingerprinting, and IPs are dropped after geo-derivation. You can opt out via a Do-Not-Track browser flag or by blocking analytics scripts.
We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party ad networks on this site.
Cookies
We use one strictly necessary cookie to remember your authentication session (when accounts ship), and the PostHog analytics cookie described above. No advertising cookies.
Data retention
Performance records persist as long as they exist in the USA Swimming public source. Analytics events older than 12 months are deleted automatically.
Children's privacy
A material fraction of USA Swimming's public records are for athletes under 13. We rely on USA Swimming's publication of those records as the lawful basis for republishing them. We will remove specific records at the swimmer's family's written request — see the contact line above.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will note the change at the top of this page and date it. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
